Oh?! It's already July!

Time flies, eh?

A lot of things happened though.

Let's go by monthly update(s) since my last post was in May.

June:

Nothing special happened actually. I only found out that I was assigned to Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Unit in MOT. That was pretty surprising (shocking, I'd rather say) because never did I imagine I would land in there. What to do? It's all settled. I heard that my preceptor is good but I just hope that she is patient with me though. Not so much of expectations since they know that I'm going off to study Uni. Oh yeah! Our DN HAS APPROVED OUR STUDIES AND NPL! What I'm now worried about is that I am not going to have any money coming in during my 2 years of study. How to survive? *sigh* My mum has been nagging to me that I will be broke during that 2 years, bla bla bla. What can I do? I cannot do part time. :(

July:

Everything has been fine so far. Till 7 July.. look what happened to my leg..

I kinda slipped and twisted my ankle while working. I was walking so fast that I didn't notice the water mark on the floor. WHO ON EARTH WOULD LOOK OUT FOR WATER MARKS? Then there goes my ankle. The healthcare assistant who was mopping the floor denied that it was her fault because she even claimed that I walked into the disposal room when I didn't. My NC was very nice because she literally squatted down to put ice on my ankle to reduce the swelling. I was sent to A&E straight away after someone borrowed a wheelchair from there. I waited for quite long and in the end I only saw the doctor at around 5pm.

What the doctor told me is that it might be a fracture so he had to put a backslab on my leg to immobilize it because seeing the specialist in a week's time which is 15 July. I needed wheelchair/ crutches to bring me to places and the times were so terrible that I would never forget. I'm now improving in my walking though, as I no longer need crutches to support me. At most it's only 1 sided when I can still use my left ankle to support some weight. Good improvement, I would say. The bruise on my ankle is still there but it has become smaller. I was supposed to report to work on 16 July but the doctor said I couldn't because my ankle is still swollen and at that time I couldn't walk still so he extended my MC till 22 July when I will have another appointment and X-ray to confirm that it's just a sprain but not fracture.

Let's hope that I can recover soon enough for me to go back to work. If not I might not even see my full pay this month. What I heard from the others is that the hospital may cut my pay because I took MC and HL before I was confirmed a staff of the hospital.

I took 9 days worth of MC and 8 days worth of HL in total! If what they said were real, I can't even imagine what my salary would be like.... :O

Anyway because of this, I missed the Jurong Lake Run. It was depressing to see my friend join but I couldn't be there..... :'(

I don't feel that good while running.. had stitches at my right flank and I had to slow down.. the sun was terrible! and it's not a good sign when I had the same feeling that I thought I'm gonna vomit again. worse thing is that it's always after I drink my 100plus drink. :/

maybe my body really cannot adapt to the 100plus during the run.

anyway back to work, some problems happened.

apparently sister said the chance of us studying at UOM is low because sister will not grant us our NPL. just because I'm not a confirmed staff and they will problem in the NPL and stuff.

why did all these things happen? all because of 1 person who said it's alright to just apply even if you have a bond with the hospital because if we were to get an offer, they will help us in telling the hospital about it and discuss what to do.

If that person told us that it's not advisable to apply, I will never do it.

so the choices that sister gave us was 1) to resign from SGH and continue studying AND TO REPAY THE BOND or 2) give up the offer and continue working. what kind of choices are these?!

u tell me to give up the offer when I'm one of the lucky 70 applicants who got it? u tell me to repay the bond when I'm not as rich? what do you want us to do?

now just pray hard that the 3 of us (koon teck, serena and myself) can go study because sister carol helped us to send an email to our DDN about this issue and see if she can agree on letting us go after discussing with the DN.

PRAY HARD.

Went to MOT 1st time yesterday as a staff nurse but I still feel like a student..

We had orientation till 5pm because Sister Carol said she was too talkative.. >.<

Anyway gonna go back there tomorrow.. let's see how..

I received the email just now evening. Has been waiting for the email for so long since I went for the interview at around early April. It took them around 1 month to process and I'm really very glad to hear that I'm accepted. :D

Ridzuana, William, Clement, etc also got it.

Woots!

Will be classmates with Ridzuana again! :D

On a side note, just hope Serena gets it as well. >.<

By the way, school will start on 26 September so I will be working from now till around early or mid- September.

Hope to get a sponsorship from SGH to help me in my school fees. Ridzuana is so lucky to get the scholarship from TTSH and now she doesn't have any finance problems.. :/

But... I'm still glad that I'm in.. :D

Guess what? It's GRADUATION!!

After a long 3 years in Ngee Ann Polytechnic where all our hardships ends here...

What I hate most is that that one got the NUH prize for being the most outstanding student in PRCP where I have also put in alot of effort in it for me to get that Distinction. :'(

Another thing to add on is that I'm not featured in the Inspirational Board at BLK 81, level 3. I took time off to take the photo but it wasn't printed. Jimmy got it though. :(

Just came back from work not long ago. So sian to work on a post-PH day.

Anyway as I was browsing through FB, I saw my friend signed up for this Marina 21k Run.

It's on 23rd July at 5.30pm if you are running 10km. I want to join but don't know whether got time or not because it's not during foundation program anymore. If I were to go for this, it's either I work in the morning or request for day off.

What to do?!

And I have to finish the race within 2 hours if not no finisher medal and T-shirt for me!!

I need to train!!!

But even so, I hope I can join this race and run with my friend!

Contemplating in progress...... LOL.

P.S. If I join this race, I'll have 2 races together if i were to also sign up Great Eastern Women 10K in July. :D

Anyway I mistook the caller saying that it's on 27th April but actually the Dinner is held on 27th May instead. Starts at around 6.30pm to around 11pm, at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore's Grand Ballroom.

I have a feeling that I have a few from my class including Ridzuana, at least there is someone I know who is also going.. :D

It's gonna be a busy day for me on that day because my Graduation Ceremony falls on the same day! no details about it yet. :/

But of course, let's just hope that my shift for the next day is not AM if not I can die.. ^^

I saw the timing for the champion, she completed the run in less than 40 mins. -.-

That's the consequences of not training. :/

But at least I finish the race within 2 hours. That's something to be happy about. :D

My next race is Nike Goddess 5k on 7 May, 5pm..

Let's hope I can finish the race within 1 1/2hours if not I can't get the finisher's entitlement.

First day of work as a STAFF NURSE is _______.

I have yet to find a word to describe it.

Its just feels different being in a post that you are new to..

So weird when people call you a staff instead of a student. :/

Need time to adjust..

Anyway, gotten my SNB certificate and my transcript from HR. Registered nurse. =O

woohoo~ :D

I found out that if you are posted to OT, you will not get the medication vest. :/

And we have yet to get our staff pass, nurse's watch and also a card holder for us to hang our name tag and stuff.. LOL. I'm so gan chiong... >.<

As I start work, people start school. Damn. I miss school..

I FINISHED RUN350- MY 1ST 10KM RACE!!!! :D

OMG. I jogged for the 1st 2 km then i brisk-walked for the rest of the run..

I actually vomited when I was at around 5.5km.. I felt so sick after drinking only 2 cups of 100PLUS and luckily the medic was quite near so she ran to my side and asked if I'm alright and whether able to finish the race or not. Lol. Of course I said I want to continue, if I were to say no; no finisher medal for me..

This finisher medal means a lot to me because it consists of my sweat, energy and determination to finish the race.. :D

A pity that I ran alone.. But nonetheless I'm happy that I finished within 2 hours! :D

BAD NEWS!

my dad went for his appointment yesterday and the Doc gave him another 3 weeks of HOSPITALISATION leave (not mc) which means he can't go for work for the whole of 1 month!!

OMG. He's like a an Emperor when he injured his leg for that week and now the hospitalisation leave extends?! Damn shit.

Lucky for me, I'm starting work next week. My mum's gonna suffer, man. :/

I really hate him acting like that.

Some good news for me: I'm already at Stage 2 of my driving! :D

Plus, I received a email that I have to pay for a NP Graduation Dinner so I called the person-in-charge about it. She said it's a computer generated email that is sent out to outstanding graduands who are invited to the prestigious Dinner. ??

I WAS SO THRILLED! Never did I thought that I will have this invitation! She said I will receive a letter some time next week that will have more details about the Dinner. Oh my. Can't wait. :DD

It's one month since CASP has officially ended...

Honestly I didn't enjoy as much as I see my friends do. :/

During this period:

-my mum was admitted in SGH Ward 46 for hyponatremia and I slept there as a caregiver. Prior to admission she was actually sent to NUH A&E because of cramps all over her limbs by SCDF ambulance..

- stupid medical check ups I have to go because of that Doc(g) who refused to believe I'm fit for work and had to pay at least $500+ for everything.. best thing, i'm paying it all by myself..-_-

- my dad fractured his left ankle and me and my mum were like a maid for the whole week. Irritating.

Hence NO $$$$ to go overseas! +_+

If not I would still be enjoying somewhere except SG. :X

AND MY DAD FRACTURED HIS LEFT ANKLE ON THE DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! No birthday mood at all!!! Even on my birthday he only paid a meal at Swensen's and that's it; went straight home because he can't walk as per normal. like wtf. ID10t. Worse still, he didn't even wished me happy birthday what's more a birthday present.

So what if your leg is injured, doesn't mean you can't say?! you're not using your leg to talk for goodness sake! knn.

please understand my stand for feeling so vulgar. i really didn't enjoy my 20th birthday. as compared to last year's in Brisbane, this is shit.

just to add on, i'm starting work on 18 april. that adds to the emotion. :*

Since my last post.

WOW. How time flies.

I do update my life in my Wordpress though.

I was thinking to have a more simple-layout blog so I went to create my Wordpress.

Can't believe that I'm already in my third year of my study.

But I'm not stopping there, I'm going to apply for university at this Singapore Institute of Technology which has this Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nursing Practice collaborated with University of Manchester! Hope I can get in. Have yet to ask Ms Jo for my recommendation letter. :/

Now, back to Blogger because I just found out that Wordpress doesn't allow you to edit CSS. You have to pay for the upgrade. -.-
